Per Soelberg Sørensen

Per Soelberg Sorensen is Emeritus Professor of Neurology at the University of Copenhagen and Senior Consultant at Department of Neurology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen. In 1994 he founded the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Center, Rigshospitalet, and he was the leader of the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Center until 2016.

Core elements in his research include development of new MS therapies, translational and biomarker research, and he has initiated and conducted several large international clinical trials.

He has authored more than 500 scientific publications, 492 of which are indexed in PubMed. He has held several honorary offices, including President of the Danish Neurological Society (1991–1994); Executive Member of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (1996–2000 and 2010-2016); Executive Board member of the European Academy of Neurology 2014-2018; Chairman of the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Group 1994-2018. He was also Founding Editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Neurology from 1994 to 2003.
